ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday conditionally suspended the non-bailable arrest warrant against former president Pervez Musharraf in Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.
Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi took up the case at IHC where the former military ruler’s counsel, Akhtar Shah Advocate, argued his client’s name was placed in a sub-category in the case challan, under which he could not be summoned in court.
“His name is in Section Two of the challan and any accused in this category could not be summoned to appear in court,” he prayed to the court.
Mushrraf’s counsel assured the court that former president would appear in the court at next hearing.
At which, the judge conditionally suspended previous non-bailable arrest warrant and ordered Musharraf to turn up in trial court on April 27 “at all cost”, warning that the warrant could be restored in case of his nonappearance.
Earlier Additional Sessions Judge Wajid Ali had issued non-bailable arrest warrant last week.
Ghazi Abdul Rasheed was killed during operation silence at Lal Masjid in 2007 in Islamabad.
