ISLAMABAD (APP) – Pakistan says it will take all possible steps to expose India’s role in the breakup of East Pakistan in 1971 and its threat to destabilize Pakistan through terrorism.
This was stated by Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz while briefing the Senate on Wednesday on Pakistan’s reaction to the statements made by the Indian Prime Minister during his visit to Bangladesh.
The Adviser said that the government has taken strong notice of Modi’s statement in which he acknowledged his country’s role in the events of 1971 in the then East Pakistan.
He urged the international community and the United Nations to take notice of the Indian open admission of indulging in subversive activities to destabilize Pakistan.
Sartaj Aziz said it is regrettable that Narendra Modi chose Bangladesh for the statement which was aimed at fanning hatred against Pakistan in Bangladesh.
He reiterated that the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh not only share common religious bonds but they also waged a joint struggle for independence against colonial rule. He said that the Indian attempt to sow seed of hatred against Pakistani people will not succeed.
The Adviser said it is ironical that the Indian Prime Minister chose the land of Bangladesh to present its case for permanent seat in the UN Security Council. He said that India does not qualify for the seat because it has been violating the UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir as well as of its recent admission of interference in East Pakistan. He also regretted the statement of the Indian Defence Minister that his country will use terrorists to counter terrorism.
