Sartaj rules out progress in Pak-India ties during Modi stint

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said there was little hope for improvement in Pak-India ties as long as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in power, reported Radio Pakistan.

“No progress is visible in Pakistan-India relations as long as Narendra Modi is in power in New Delhi,” said Aziz in an interview.

The advisor reiterated that Pakistan wanted to calm down the situation for the betterment of the whole region.

Sartaj Aziz added that Pakistan will continue diplomatic efforts for improvement of ties with India.

The adviser further maintained that Pakistan would never compromise on its principled stand on Kashmir and  would continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris struggling to get their inalienable right to self-determination.

Shedding light on the situation in Afghanistan, he said Pakistan will continue its reconciliatory role for bringing peace to the neighbouring country.

He appreciated the model of agreement between Afghan government and Hizb-e-Islami chief Gulbadin Hekmatyar and added that Pakistan would welcome the dialogue if any other group wanted to hold talks according to that model.
