GUJRANWALA – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday addressed a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz gathering in Gujranwala – known as the ‘city of wrestlers’ – where he also wrestled with a PML-N supporter on the stage and ‘won’.
Addressing the party workers at Jinnah Stadium, the CM said that God willing his party will break the ‘Niazi-Zardari’ nexus, adding that they did nothing for the public.

Shehbaz said that Imran Khan and former president Asif Ali Zardari “are not competent enough to show their faces to the public in the provinces their parties are in power”.
After the next elections, we will introduce the metro transit project in Gujranwala too, said the CM Punjab in his address.
Preparations at Gujranwala’s Jinnah Stadium were made with tight security arrangements in the city. A heavy contingent of the police force was deployed at the stadium, where party workers were gathered.
Political parties have increased their campaigning efforts for the fast approaching General Elections 2018.
Earlier in the day, Maryam Nawaz the party’s social media convention in Rawalpindi. In her address, she slammed “those who hate Nawaz Sharif” for hurling a shoe at him, claiming this was part of a “planning against the leader”.

Maryam said the incident has only increased PML-N supremo Nawaz’s popularity, which is evident by the convention.
“Nawaz Sharif’s enemies are cowards. Only those have been defeated resort to such tactics,” she told the gathering.
She then went on to criticise Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for promoting a culture of abusive language.
Smartphones for farmers
Tomorrow, the chief minister will inaugurate a scheme in Multan to provide free smartphones to 110,000 farmers in the province. Objective of the scheme is to keep the farmers updated about Agriculture Department’s recommendations about their crops.
According to spokesman of Punjab government, the farmers would get information regarding ecosystem, latest production techniques, subsidies on agriculture inputs, market prices of different commodities, and the latest researches. The farmers will pay Rs500 to 1000 for acquiring one smart mobile phone.
The tenants will pay Rs500 while the owners of land would pay Rs1000. The government will also provide free-of-cost 1 GB internet service. Initially, the facility will be given to registered farmers only.
