Sita White scandal: Imran Khan s nomination papers for NA-243 Karachi challenged

KARACHI – An application challenging the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan in the pretext of the Sita White case was filed with the returning officer hours after the PTI chief filed nomination papers from NA-243 Karachi on Tuesday.

After the papers were challenged, scrutiny of Khan’s nomination papers was postponed till June 19, which is the last date for the process.

The cricketer-turned-politician is contesting from five constituencies: NA-26 Bannu, NA-61 Rawalpindi, NA-95 Mianwali, NA-131 Lahore and NA-243 Karachi.

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry had claimed a few days earlier that he would challenge Imran for violating Article 62 (1)(f) of the Constitution citing the same Sita White scandal and Imran’s alleged daughter Tyrian White; the current appeal has not been filed by the former top judge.

The Election Commission of Pakistan would receive the appeals filed against any objection to the decisions of returning officers by June 22.

The verdicts on appeals will be announced by June 27, after which, the revised list of candidates will be issued on June 28.
