Pakistan, Tajikistan sign multiple agreements during President Emomali Rahmon s visit to Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Pakistan and Tajikistan on Thursday signed multiple agreements of cooperation in the fields of power, commerce and defence during the official visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Federal ministers of respective ministries signed the documents along their Tajik counterparts.

Earlier an one-on-one meeting was held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at PM House in Islamabad.

Both leaders agreed to take the relationship between Pakistan and Tajikistan to next level where both countries become economic partners. They stressed on the need of regional cooperation to resolve the issue being faced by two countries.

The meeting was followed by a delegation level meeting.

Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warmly greeted the Tajik President. Emomali Rahmon was also given a guard of honor on the occasion.

He is visiting on a two-day official visit on the invitation Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers, leading businessmen and other senior officials.

During his stay, the Tajik President will also meet President Mamnoon Hussain and other top level dignitaries.

The visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two brotherly countries and help to enhance cooperation in political, economic, energy, infrastructure and defence sectors.

Two sides will also discuss region project CASA-1000.
