Ihc Stops Police From Arresting Pti Leader Sher Afzal Marwat

ISLAMABAD –  The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered law enforcement agencies not to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat without court permission. This directive was issued on Saturday during a hearing where the IHC requested details of all registered cases against the lawmaker.

Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz presided over the hearing and noted that Marwat’s legal counsel had expressed concerns that his client feared arrest in undisclosed cases. “Marwat should not be arrested in any case without prior approval from the court,” the judge emphasized.

The court has issued notices to the Interior Secretary, Islamabad and Punjab Inspectors General (IGs), and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide comprehensive details regarding the cases filed against Marwat.

Meanwhile, the PTI has postponed its protest, initially scheduled for September 13, to September 21. The decision follows ongoing tensions between the party and government authorities. PTI leader Salman Akram Raja stated: “We will definitely hold the gathering on September 21, whether we receive the NOC [No Objection Certificate] or not. PTI is prepared to face jail if necessary.”

Raja further emphasized the party’s determination to use all available platforms to protest the current political situation.

In a related development, PTI leader Omar Ayub reiterated the party’s demand for snap elections, condemning recent actions taken by the government. Ayub referred to September 9 as a “black day” in Pakistan’s history, citing an alleged attack on parliament. He criticized former Speaker Ayaz Sadiq for allowing unauthorized entry, further fueling PTI’s call for early polls to resolve the political crisis.
