Fia Shakes Up Lahore Anti Corruption Team Amid Ongoing Probes

In a significant move, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has dissolved its Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore team, amidst ongoing investigations into alleged over-billing by Pasco and Lesco. The decision, led by the FIA’s Director General, marks a major shift in the department’s structure, with all key members of the team ordered to report to the office of the Additional Director General (North).

The team, led by Deputy Director Mian Sabir, consisted of nine officers, including assistant directors, inspectors, and sub-inspectors. Among the affected officers are Assistant Directors Naeem Akhtar, Zeeshan Khokhar, and Zoar, as well as Inspectors Shahzeb Khan and Naeem Sajid. Several sub-inspectors, including Shuzab Mukhtar, Sohail Salamat, and Imtiaz Niazi, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Ansar Saifullah Malhi, have also been reassigned.

This shake-up follows the reassignment of FIA Director Sarfaraz Khan Work, who was instructed to report to the Establishment Division. The restructuring has drawn attention within the agency and beyond, with many questioning the sudden nature of these changes.

Sources suggest that the dissolution of the team is linked to ongoing probes into over-billing allegations involving Pasco and Lesco. These cases are reportedly under the scrutiny of the Ministry of Interior and the Prime Minister’s Office, with the Prime Minister’s Inspection Team stepping in after reports of irregularities surfaced.

An FIA official, speaking anonymously, hinted that the Prime Minister’s Office took direct action following reports of anomalies in the Pasco and Lesco investigations. While this move may appear drastic, it demonstrates a commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability, a positive step towards reforming institutional practices.
