Sania Mirza lambastes Indian top Anchor Rajdeep Sardesai for sexist question, see video

MUMBAI (Web Desk) – Indian tennis queen Sania Mirza really proved her mettle as she scored a win against veteran journalist Rajdeep Sardesai during a television interview here on last Thursday night.

During the interview about the release of her autobiography titled Ace Against Odds, Sardesai asked Mirza about her plans to settle down and motherhood.

According to Indian Express, the star player taken aback for second that this was actually a question being asked of the No. 1 women’s doubles player, Mirza’s fitting response made us proud and promptly put the interviewer in place.

Counter-questioning, Mirza said: “You sound disappointed that I’m not choosing motherhood over being number one in the world at this point in time. But I’ll answer your question anyway, that’s the question I face all the time as a woman, that all women have to face — the first is marriage and then it’s motherhood.

Unfortunately, that’s when we’re settled, and no matter how many Wimbledons we win or number ones in the world we become, we don’t become settled. But eventually, it will happen, not right now. And when it does happen I’ll be the first one to tell everybody when I plan to do that.”

Radjeep apologised and asked Sania how she would like to be remembered as. ‘I hope my achievements will set a precedent that no girls are asked at the age of 29 as to when she is going to have a child when she’s number one in the World. That’s no settling in.’

The fact that the question was asked was enough to get Sardesai massively trolled on social media platforms.
