Qatari prince Hamad Bin Jassim ready to visit Pakistan for appearance before SC

ISLAMABAD – Qatari prince Hamad Bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, who is among the owners of REDCO International in Qatar, is ready to come to Pakistan to appear before the court or a commission regarding Panama Leaks, it has been reported.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan was told yesterday by counsel of PM’s sons Barrister Akram Sheikh that the London flats were handed over by Qatari prince in 2006 as the Sharif family and Qatar’s royal family signed agreements for that.

The apex court questioned whether Qatari prince would visit Pakistan to endorse the letter for which no tangible answer was given by Akram Sheikh.

However, according to a report by The News, the Qatari prince, whose letter was presented before the court yesterday has agreed to visit Pakistan for appearance before the court.

Sources privy to the developments expressed that Prince Hamad Al Thani, the former Prime Minister of Qatar, who was also named in the Panama Papers, has no problem in coming to Pakistan and appearing before any court or commission to be cross examined.

Al Thani, who became the foreign minister of Qatar at the age of 33 in 1990’s and became its prime minister, was among the world’s top 140 politicians named by the Panama Papers.

While the documents submitted by the Sharif’s are under scrutiny, legal fraternity believes that a proper verification of the letter submitted by Sharif family is needed in order to thwart the petitions.

Legal experts also doubt that even if Prince Hamad Al Thani gives his consent to come to Pakistan, he can also opt to come at a time of his own choice, thus delaying the proceedings.
