ISLAMABAD — All eyes are on the 23rd meeting of Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization which is being held today in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Dignitaries from member states will attend 23rd Council of Heads of Governments meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Key agenda items include approving the organization’s budget and addressing significant economic collaboration challenges among member states.
The summit will see participation from eight heads of government. This year, Mongolia is attending as an observer, and Turkmenistan has been invited as a special guest. Representatives from international organizations, including the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, are also in attendance.
Climate change and economic challenges will be part of the summit’s discussions, as CHG underscores Islamabad’s commitment to the SCO charter and the principles of the Shanghai Spirit.
The plenary session will commence with an opening address by PM Shehbaz, followed by speeches from foreign dignitaries, and will conclude with a document-signing ceremony.
