ISLAMABAD – Interior Minister Chaurdhy Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that he had offered his resignation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the Supreme Court’s report on the Quetta hospital carnage.
Speaking to reporters, Nisar said that the prime minister had refused to accept his resignation.
The report categorically stated that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had displayed little sense of ministerial responsibility, having called only one meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) in more than three-and-a-half years.
In its findings, the report stated that the Federal Interior Ministry lacks a ‘sense of ministerial responsibility’.
“The [Interior] Ministry’s National Security Internal Policy is not being implemented. The Officers of the Ministry appear more interested in serving the Minister than the people of Pakistan,” said the inquiry report.
“Forensic tools are not being used to aid in tracing the perpetrators of terrorist attacks, and rudimentary methodologies to examine crime scenes, etcetera, have just not been developed or standardised,” the report stated.
Nisar told reporters that he would be presenting his and the Interior Ministry’s stance on the report before the Supreme Court and Parliament.
The interior minister slammed the ‘one-sided’ report that did not include his stance, adding that he came to know of it via newspapers. “The report also leveled personal allegations against me,” he added.
