LAHORE – Transport fares have been reduced by Rs30 to Rs70 in Punjab after a significant decrease was announced in petroleum prices.
Provincial Minister for Information, Azma Bukhari, stated that the government has been taking steps to get the transport fares reduced since the latest cut in petroleum prices in the country.
She said Chif Minister Maryam Nawaz is committed to making sure that fares are reduced in all circumstances.
Azma Bukhari noted that no other province has reduced fares in response to falling petrol prices, making Punjab the only province to cut the fares.
The chief minister, according to Azma, has directed an immediate implementation of fare reductions across the province. District administration teams are currently inspecting fare schedules at all bus terminals.
Bukhari emphasized that Maryam Nawaz has given strict instructions to take strong action against anyone involved in overcharging.
