MQM leader Rashid Godil under gun attack in Karachi

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senior leader, former MNA Abdul Rashid Godil got injured on Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on his car in Karachi.

Police said, the incident took place in Bahadur Abad area where unknown bike riders fired six shots on Godil’s car and managed to flee from the scene.

He received bullets in his chest, head and jaw. The driver died on the spot, while wife is safe.

Godil was rushed to a Liaquat National Hospital where his condition is said to be critical, hospital sources said. He underwent surgery at a hospital.

Godil’s wife was in the car at the time of the attack but remained unhurt.

Meanwhile, talks between MQM senior leaders and Maulana fazalul Rehman is underway at nine-zero regarding the resignations of MQM leaders from National Assembly.

It was expected that Rashid Godil was supposed to join the meeting.

The talks, which were under way in a pleasant atmosphere, were abruptly suspended as the news of the attack on Godil reached the MQM headquarters.

MQM and other parties leaders came out in support of wounded colleague.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in a statement, also condemnation the attack on MQM’s Rashid Godil and prayed for his recovery.
