Polling underway for NA-218 Matiari by-election

HYDERABAD (Staff Report) – A day-long polling process is being held for by-election in NA-218 Matiari today (Monday).

The polling started at 8:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any formal break.

The seat fell vacant due to demise of Pakistan People’s Party lawmaker (PPP) Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

Amin Fahim’s son Makhdoom Saeed­uzzaman is the PPP’s candidate for the by-poll. Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote was nominated by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional however he has decided not to contest against Saeed­uzzaman. Another four candidates are also in the run.

The constituency has over 308,000 registered voters, for which Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established as many as 263 polling stations.
