KARACHI – At least seven terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with Rangers on Sunday night in Karachi, as the country-wide operation against miscreants continued on third day.
According to the spokesman for the paramilitary force, Rangers launched targeted action in Shah Latif Town over an intelligence report about the presence of terrorists in the area.
The Rangers personnel exchanged fire with the terrorists and at least seven terrorists affiliated with proscribed outfits were killed in the encounter while a Rangers official was left injured.
The spokesman confirmed that militants were planning to wreak havoc through a major terror activity in the area.
After the operation, Rangers cordoned off the entire area and called in more force as some of the militants managed to flee taking advantage of the darkness.
Huge cache of arms and explosives were also recovered from the site where the shootout took place.
The operation follows a week of terror attacks across the country, leaving over 100 people dead while injuring more than 350 in a series of bombings.
