ISLAMABAD – Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that India is going to become an ‘official sponsor of terrorism’ by granting political asylum to renegade Baloch separatist Brahamdagh Bugti.
In a tweet, he said: “India Granting asylum to Brahmdagh Bugti will amount to harbouring a terrorist by a state..thus becoming official sponsor of terrorism.”
Bugti has asked India to grant him Indian citizenship as it has been revealed that he wants to leave Switzerland as soon as possible fearing Pakistani security agencies which are reportedly preparing dossiers to get a red warrant for his arrest through Interpol.
Speaking to journalists in the Swiss city, Bugti said: “We have decided that we will formally file asylum papers to Indian Govt. We will start work on it right away. We expect all kind of help from India.”
Earlier this year, Swiss government rejected application of Brahamdagh Bugti for political asylum.
Brahamdagh Bugti, the grandson Akbar Bughti, is founding chief of Baloch Republican Party. He went into exile after the death of his grandfather Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006. Now, he has been living in Geneva from five years.
Pakistan has banned Baloch Republican Party due to its alleged involvement in terrorism activities in Balochistan province.
