ISLAMABAD – British Foreign Secretary Boris johnson has asked Pakistan and India to resolve the long-standing Kashmir issue.
Addressing a press briefing with advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Thursday, Johnson expressed that both Pakistan and India should show restraint as British administration was concerned regarding the ongoing tension.
He went on to claim that Pakistan’s economy was making strides with a fast pace. He said that he felt elated after visiting pakistan for the first time.
Johnson vowed to work with Pakistan on economic and security fronts to boost the ties adding that Pakistan sacrificed a lot in fight against terror. He expressed that relations of UK with Pakistan were crucial.
The British official also lauded Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and reaffirmed that his country would work with Pakistan as it was a crucial state in South-Asia.
On the other hand, Sartaj Aziz said that Pakistan invited UK’s premier Theresa May to visit the country next year. He expressed that Pakistan and Uk have reaffirmed to extend mutual cooperation.
He detailed that the meeting with Johnson focused on regional and economic issues. Sartaj said that johnson understood Pakistan’s narrative regarding ongoing tension in the region in the aftermath of Indian aggression across Line of Control.
Earlier, Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs Boris Johnson arrived in Islamabad today (Thursday) on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.
Boris Johnson is also expected to call on President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif.
