ISLAMABAD – The government has approved an amount of Rs 3.652 billion to plant 100 million trees in the country during next five years.
A spokesperson of Climate Change Ministry said tree plantation is continuing in all the four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) in different ecological locations.
He said these locations include road and canal sides, rehabilitation and re-stocking of the historical plantation, restoration and improvement of scrub forests, conservation and enhancement in Juniper and Chilghoza forest and others.
The spokesman said Rs 605.172 million were allocated for the campaign during 2017-18 out of which, Rs 242.068 million have been released while Rs 240.424 million have been spent.
