LAHORE – The coalesced opposition took to streets on Thursday to mark the black day, exactly year after the last general elections took place in the country.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Qaumi Watan Party, Awami National Party, and others are staging rallies across the country to protest against the outcome of the last general elections which propelled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf into power; the members of opposition contend that the government was selected instead of elected by the masses.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz President, Shehbaz Sharif would be addressing a rally at Chairing Cross in Lahore for which arrangements have been finalized; the lawmaker is on his way to the area to address party loyalists.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Vice- President, Maryam Nawaz addressed a rally in Quetta alongside other leaders.

In her speech, Maryam took aim at the government and urged the “honorable institutions” to stop backing Prime Minister Imran Khan in order to avoid conflict with the masses.
Maryam expressed that the country could never prosper unless the true representatives of the people assume power.
The politician urged the people of Balochistan to support other provinces in removing the incumbent government adding that her party was marking ‘Youm-e-Siyah’ as on the day the mandate of the people was stolen and humiliated.
Maryam said her father honored the public decision in Balochistan and K-P in 2013 and did not interfere in government formation.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed a gathering in Karachi and fired a broadside at the ruling regime.
In his address, Bilawal claimed that the mandate of the public was stolen from Layari to Nine-Zero, adding that even the result of the constituency he was fighting elections from was halted.
‘Not only politicians but politics is at the target now,’ Bilawal shared.
The lawmaker expressed that the democracy of the country was in danger as the federation was being targeted besides the parliament.
