WASHINGTON – Former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan’s startling claims about Indian funding of the proscribed terrorist group has strengthened Pakistan’s case against detained Indian spy Kulbushan Jadhav, said Michael Kugelman, an expert on the region.
Following Ehsanullah Ehsan’s confessional video released by ISPR, deputy director of the Asia Program and senior associate for South Asia at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Michael Kugelman took to the twitter and said: “A confession linking RAW to TTP’s activities-whether that’s true or not-helps #Pakistan strengthen its case against Yadav.”

Former TTP spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan confessed on Wednesday that the militant group TTP had links with Indian and Afghan intelligence agencies.
The TTP-JA spokesperson in the video released by the military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations admitted that he was involved in activities of the terrorist group TTP that had links with RAW and Afghan spy agency NDS.
Senior journalist Saleem Safi, who has interviewed Ehsanullah Ehsan, claimed on Wednesday that the former spokesman of the proscribed militant group had divulged during the interview that the TTP commander and ISIS chief Umar Khalid Khorasani got medical treatment in India after sustaining injuries in one of the terror attacks in Afghanistan.
“I have been a spokesperson for TTP Mohmand, TTP’s central division, and the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar,” he says. “I have played the role of a spokesperson and during my 9 years I saw a lot happening in TTP. They misguided dozens of people, especially the youth, into joining the organisation in the name of Islam.”
