LAHORE- Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Adviser on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has informed that Pakistan was elected as the Vice Chair at the third UN Environment’s Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific held in Singapore on Friday.
Adviser on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam and Additional Secretary Babar Hayat Tarar represented Pakistan in the third session of UN Environment’s Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific took place from January 23 to 25 2019 in Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.
Speaking at the forum, Malik Amin Aslam said that “It is an honour for Pakistan as 41 environment Ministers of Asia Pacific, including China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand among others have chosen Pakistan to represent them.”
The Adviser tweeted that Pakistan was elected as vice chair to the forum after 41 environmental ministers of countries in the region voted in its favour.

The Forum focused on the theme of United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA), ‘Innovative solutions for environmental challenges and sustainable consumption and production’ essentially aimed at a joint approach at the 4th UN Environment Assembly, scheduled in Kenya during March.
Malik Amin said that owing to the country’s sincere and dedicated environment preservation endeavours the country has been elected the vice chair of the forum.
“A nationwide Clean Green Pakistan movement has been launched for protection of the environment that involves 10 billion tree plantation drives, solid and liquid waste management, total hygiene and clean drinking water,” he added.
Keeping in view of Pakistan’s consistent demand the UN Environment has also decided in principle to open an office in the country.
