ISLAMABAD – Islamabad police Friday ordered to stop Imran Khan chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from reaching Rawalpindi to attend a rally which will be held by Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) at Lal Haveli.
“The Deputy Commissioner has written a letter to IG police and asked to take all measures and ensure that Imran Khan is stopped from going to Rawalpindi”, reported Geo News.
Roads leading from Murree Road to Bani Gala where the PTI chief resides have been closed. “Large contingents of police and Frontier Constabulary personnel have been deployed”, the report added.
PTI leaders Faisal Javed, Murad Saeed and MNA Aqibullah have also been stopped from going to Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala.
Faisal Javed said the party had several plans in place. “We have plan b and plan c. We will announce our plan after a little while. People are ready and they cannot stop Imran Khan today. They cannot stop the preparations for November 2,” Javed told media.
Clashes continue between police and PTI, AML workers at Committee Chowk
Clashes erupted on Friday as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami Muslim League (AML) workers marched towards LAL Haveli in Rawalpindi for a political rally.
Containers were also placed on roads leading to Lal Haveli the residence of Sheikh Rasheed in Rawalpindi.
The containers were placed by Rawalpindi Administration to stop people from reaching Lal Haveli to attend an AML rally.
Sheikh Rasheed has asked Imran Khan to reach Lal Haveli to attend the rally by helicopter or any other means.
Police and FC surrounded the residences of PTI chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad and AML chief Sheikh Rasheed in Rawalpindi in the wee hours of Friday.
According to details, security forces put road blocks outside Bani Gala, the residence of the PTI chief. All exit and entry points of Bani Gala were also blocked.
On Thursday Islamabad police stormed PTI’s youth convention in Islamabad and arrested scores of party activists on the charge of violating section 144.
At least 120 members of the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) were arrested Thursday evening in a crackdown by law enforcement personnel against PTI in Islamabad ahead of a major anti-government protest on November 2.
