ISLAMABAD – Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik will officially take charge as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) today on September 30.
The key appointment comes at a critical time as country’s apex spy agency faces numerous national and regional challenges.
Lt General Asim Malik is said to improve the Intelligence agency’s face as the seasoned officer is known for his operational command capabilities and expertise in military intelligence. He has a proven track record of executing complex missions and addressing high-stakes objectives efficiently.
Prior to his current role, General Malik commanded the Infantry Division in Balochistan and the Infantry Brigade in Waziristan, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills. He is also a recipient of the Honorary Sword, having excelled in his military training.
His extensive experience includes serving as Chief Instructor at the National Defense University and as an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta. A graduate of both Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defense Studies, General Malik brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new position.
Analysts are closely watching his leadership style and strategies as he takes the helm of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency.
