Gen (r) Raheel Sharif calls on FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD – Former military chief, retired Gen Raheel Sharif called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday.

Islamic Military Alliance Chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif and Foreign Minister exchanged views on bilateral issues and discussed matters regarding regional peace and stability.

Gen (r) Raheel also briefed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi regarding steps and efforts taken to curb terrorism.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood appreciated the Islamic Military alliance’s efforts for the regional peace.

During their two-day long visit, the delegates of the Islamic military coalition will meet the top civil and military leadership.

Former army chief General (retd) Raheel Sharif is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The 41-nation alliance was announced in December 2015. Pakistan was part of the initial list of 34 countries that had agreed to become part of the coalition. Iran is not a part of the alliance.

Saudi Arabia had acquired the services of Gen (r) Raheel as head of the IMCTC cobbled together in December 2015.
