LAHORE – An accountability court in the Punjab capital has given fourteen days physical remand of Leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz Sharif to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Hamza was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau yesterday after Lahore High Court rejected his interim bail in the Ramazan Sugar Mills and money laundering cases.
The Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, along with his father, was indicted in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case on April 9.
The anti-graft body, NAB, had constituted special teams for Hamza’s arrest.
In February, the NAB had filed a reference against the duo alleging that the former chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif misused his authority by using public funds for the construction of a bridge to facilitate the Ramzan mills, which is owned by his sons.
