SHANGLA (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday announced a special relief package for reconstruction of houses destroyed in Monday’s earthquake.
In a briefing session during visit to earthquake hit areas of Shangla the premier announced a compensation of Rs 1 Lakh for heavily damaged houses and Rs 50 Thousands for partially destroyed houses.
On the occasion he also ordered administration to speed up the rescue operation and ensure that everybody has received tents and blankets as weather is very colder in most of earthquake affected areas.
The premier was told that all of the major roads have been reopened by teams of FWO and rescuers were now approaching the remote areas of the province.
The Prime Minister reached the affected city of Shangla to review rescue and relief operation in Khyber Pakhtukhwa and Gilgit Baltistan.
According to a statement Prime Minister was also accompanied by Governor KPK Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Federal Minister for Information Pervez Rasheed and other top officials.
Earlier this day Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a high level meeting to review the situation after earthquake.
During the meeting Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) briefed the premier about losses and ongoing rescue operation in affected areas.
Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) was also invited to the meeting to brief about the damages caused to roads and bridges.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar, federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and federal minister for information Pervez Rasheed were also be present in the meeting.
