JuD, FIF not proscribed organisations, foreign secretary tells Senate committee

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has said that Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF) were not proscribed organisations in Pakistan, however the first has been put at a watch list on in the light of guidelines issued by United Nations, reported Daily Times.

Speaking to Senate committee on foreign affairs, Chaudhry went on to say that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was a proscribed organisation and banned from functioning in country.

He further stated that JuD’s funding sources and projects are continuously being monitored while organisation completely free to function.

In answer to another question, he informed the committee that Indian forces have so far committed 246 border violations along Line of Control (LoC) while another 39 firing incidents took place at Working Boundary. More than 30 Pakistani nationals were injured while half a dozen had died in these incidents, he added.
