Documentary ‘He Named Me Malala’ nominated for BAFTA Awards

LONDON (Web Desk) -A documentary ‘He Named Me Malala’ on the life of Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, has been nominated in the Documentary category of the upcoming 69th British Academy of Film and Television Acts (BAFTA) Awards.

The documentary is also expected to be nominated in the same category at the upcoming 88th Academy Awards, whose final nominations will be announced on January 14.

The documentary shows the brave teenager’s resolve for girls’ right to education despite being shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012.

Filmmaker Asif Kapadia’s Amy, Matthew Heineman’s Cartel Land, Marlon Stevan Riley’s Listen to Me and Jennifer Peedom’s Sherpa are also nominated in the same category according to a statement published on BAFTA’s official site Friday.

The 69th BAFTA Awards are scheduled to be held on February 14 at the Royal Opera House in London.
