HYDERABAD (Staff Report) – A day-long polling process is being held for by-election in NA-218 Matiari today (Monday).
The polling started at 8:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any formal break.
The seat fell vacant due to demise of Pakistan People’s Party lawmaker (PPP) Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
Amin Fahim’s son Makhdoom Saeeduzzaman is the PPP’s candidate for the by-poll. Mohammad Ali Shah Jamote was nominated by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional however he has decided not to contest against Saeeduzzaman. Another four candidates are also in the run.
The constituency has over 308,000 registered voters, for which Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established as many as 263 polling stations.
