Newly-inducted PNS Hunain visits Saudi Arabia on maiden international voyage

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Navy’s Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS Hunain visited Jeddah on its first international voyage and conducted bilateral naval drills with the Saudi Arabian forces.

PNS Hunain, a multipurpose and highly agile platform of medium size tonnage, was commissioned into the Pakistan Navy in July this year during a ceremony held at Constanta Port in Romania.

The newly commissioned, PNS Hunain is a multipurpose and highly agile platform of medium size tonnage. The ship is a state-of-the-art electronic warfare, anti-ship & anti-air warfare capable platform with modern self-protection and terminal defence systems, the Pakistan Navy said in a press release.

The ship is also capable of embarking multirole helicopters and can operate independently as well as part of a Task Force for enhanced duration to undertake a number of missions while safeguarding the Maritime interests of Pakistan.

“The newly commissioned PNS Hunain visited #Jeddah on its maiden voyage,” the Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh informed in a social media post. “Also conducted bilateral exercise with #RSNF Ship Al Riyadh.”

The navies of both countries regularly hold joint exercises in a bid to boost e interoperability and ensure collective maritime security.
