Punjab decides to issue driving licences to all college, university students

LAHORE – Traffic police in Punjab have decided to issue driving licences to college and university students across the province as part of its campaign for road safety.

A spokesperson for the traffic police said the Additional IG Traffic has decided to provide licences to students, adding that and a circular has been issued to all CTOs and DTOs in this regard.

Under this plan, licences will be issued not only to students of universities and colleges but also to the administration of the educational institutions.

The spokesperson highlighted that a large number of students are driving motorcycles and cars without licences, which leads to accidents. A special campaign has been launched across Punjab for the issuance of driving licences to students and faculty members.

Reports said CTOs and District Traffic Officers will hold meetings with the heads of educational institutions promptly.

Additionally, focal persons will be appointed by universities throughout the province. The administration of universities and colleges will facilitate transporting students to testing centers, where they will receive all necessary facilities for obtaining their driving licences.

The Higher Education Commission Punjab has issued instructions to educational institutions regarding the campaign.
