Limited Metro Bus operations in Lahore amid PTI Protest call

LAHORE — The protest call by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led to several restriction in provincial capital Lahore including partial suspension of the metro bus service across the metropolis.

Commuters are facing massive issues, as service is only operational between Gajju Matah and MAO stop, while the route from Secretariat to Shahdara remains suspended.

The limited service has significantly impacted the daily commute for many citizens. Authorities are advising travelers to plan their journeys accordingly as the disruptions are expected to continue amidst the ongoing protests.

Punjab government imposed Section 144 in Lahore for six days, from October 3 to October 8, banning all political gatherings and protests to maintain law and order.

This decision precedes planned demonstrations by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Imran Khan, the former prime minister and PTI founder, announced protests in support of the judiciary starting on October 2 and urged supporters to gather at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on October 5.

He warned against efforts to undermine the PTI, asserting that his arrest is part of a broader scheme. Previously, Islamabad had also enforced Section 144 to prohibit public gatherings.
