ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, has declined the official retirement dinner, which was to be held at public expense on October 25.
In a letter to the Registrar’s Office regarding arrangements for the retirement dinner, which was to include judges, their families, and legal representatives, the Chief Justice stated that no dinner should be held in his honor, citing a cost of Rs2 million in public funds.
The Registrar’s Office had earlier announced that a full court reference would take place on October 25, along with a farewell dinner hosted by the Supreme Court Bar Association, which Chief Justice Isa has accepted.
It is customary to hold a dinner in honor of retiring judges or Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, but Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has chosen to forgo this tradition.
