ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A district court on Saturday handed over two director generals of the Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) to the FIA on a 3-day physical remand in a corruption case.
Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented EOBI DG Investment Wahid Khurshid and DG Accounts and Finance Najmul Saqib before Additional Magistrate Abdul Ghafoor Kakar.
FIA Investigation Officer Afzal Khan Niazi informed the court that the accused had embezzled millions of rupees in a project of Overseas Employment Corporation Tower by increasing its cost unlawfully, adding that the accused in connivance of other officials increased the cost of the project from Rs 600 million to Rs 1,539 million.
The IO sought a five day physical remand of the accused, however, the court allowed a three-day physical remand of the accused and directed the investigation officer to present them again on March 01.
The accused were arrested after Islamabad High Court their bail plea.
