AUCKLAND (Web Desk) – Believe it or not, a $500,000 Lamborghini Huracan is up for sale through a $1 reserve auction on Trade Me, New Zealand’s largest internet auction website.
There’s only one catch – the luxury Italian sports car is completely written off and unable to be driven.
The 2015 Huracan, Spanish for hurricane, looks like it has been through its namesake.
The heavily damaged Italian sports car was involved in a single-car, off-road accident, and is being sold by Star Auctions on behalf of an insurance company, the Mail Online reported.
“This vehicle has been damaged and deemed uneconomical to repair to its pre-accident condition by the insurer,” the auction website reads.
“For this reason, Star Auctions have been commissioned to dispose of the vehicle AS IS via $1 reserve auction.”
Photos of the car show damage to almost all areas including the chassis and front of the 5.2 litre, V10 luxury vehicle. However the engine, at the rear of the car appears to be undamaged.
This is likely to attract potential bidders, and may be the reason why the current bid sits at $44,700.
A fully functional 2015 Huracan hits 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h.
The auction closes on Wednesday March 30.
