KARACHI (Staff Report) – A medical university student was passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday after he was stopped from entering the examination hall.
Abdul Basit was a final year student at a private university. He reached the exam centre late on Monday after his car broke down. The professor on duty did not allow Basit to appear in his exam because he was late. However, the professor told Basit to bring a document from the main campus of the university, permitting him to sit in the exam.
Disheartened, he doused himself with petrol and set himself on fire.
He was rushed to the Civil Hospital with 95 percent burns, doctors said.
Sindh Governor Ishrat ul Ebad took notice of the incident and demanded a report of the incident from the vice chancellor of the private university.
On the other hand, mother of the deceased had claimed that her son did not commit suicide but he was murdered.
