MULTAN – Nine young men from the same family married nine of their cousins in a single wedding ceremony, refusing to accept dowry and hosting the event under one roof in Shujabad, a city in Multan district of Punjab.
The collective wedding featured nine grooms—Muhammad Kashif, Muhammad Asim, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Naveed, Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Shehbaz, and Muhammad Ali—who decided collectively not to burden the brides’ families financially.
The event went viral on social media, with many users praising the grooms as “heroes” for setting an example rarely seen in modern times.
A single Walima (reception) was held for all nine couples on the same day, emphasizing community values and simplicity over extravagance.
Family members explained that the purpose of the wedding was not to break records, but to show society that simplifying weddings can ensure no daughter is left waiting for marriage due to financial constraints.
Observers called the ceremony a “golden example” for other families, suggesting it could inspire a broader movement toward affordable and dowry-free weddings.
