Pakistanis stranded in Aden under threat from attack by Houthi rebels

ADEN (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Foreign Office representative has raised the alarm that at least 171 Pakistanis stranded in Yemeni seaport city Aden are under threat from an attack by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.

Abdullah Ashraf Asghar told a private television Monday that Pakistan’s Ambassador to Yemen has issued orders that all Pakistani nationals be taken to the nearby port, because the Houthis could attack the city any time.

Pakistanis in the troubled-zone said intense bombing was taking place in Aden as the army was advancing with tanks and armoured vehicles in an effort to free it from the rebels.

Reports added the airport building and runway had been destroyed.

Pakistanis stranded in Aden will travel in a convoy to a nearby port from where they will be ferried to a Pakistan Navy ship using small boats.
