QUETTA – Security forces have killed four militants in separate operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to security officials.
Three members of the group referred to by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali, North Waziristan. Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site, while militant hideouts were also destroyed during the operation.
In Balochistan, another operation was conducted near Mal Madarsa in the Surab area under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3. Security officials said the action followed intelligence indicating the presence of militants in the area between Mal Madarsa and Bategu.
According to the officials, security personnel exchanged fire with the militants, killing one of them, while another escaped. A weapon and a motorcycle were reportedly recovered from the scene.
Security authorities said their operations in Balochistan are aimed at countering militant activity and restoring peace and stability across the province.
Separately, in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a militant reportedly died when an explosive device he was carrying detonated prematurely. Security officials said the individual was allegedly travelling toward a patwar office and intended to attack it in connection with an extortion dispute.
The premature explosion also damaged two nearby houses, causing sections of their walls to collapse, according to officials.
The latest incidents come as security operations have intensified across Balochistan. On September 27, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that more than 70 militants had been killed during several operations conducted in the province over a four-day period.
