Seven-year-old Muslim schoolboy opens up about xenophobic attack in US

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Abdul Aziz, the seven-year old school boy who was attacked for being a Muslim by his fellows in North Carolina has disclosed the gruesome details of how he faced the wrath of his own friends for being a Muslim.

“They hit me at my face, they hit me at my chest, they hit me at my stomach, and then they hit me at my fingers,” he said.

The attack betrayed the trust of the innocent first-grader on his friends who also dubbed his Muslim name as “Silly”.

“It hurt me more because they are all my friends but who bullies friends? They are not friends. And they keep saying that my name, and they say my name’s a silly name, and they keep saying bad names to me,” he said.

“And they said Abdul means you’re fat and a bully. But that’s not true, mum,” he added.

Father of Abdul Aziz, Zeeshan ul-hassan Usmani, who happens to be a leading computer scientist and an entrepreneur recenlt uploaded the picture of his injured son who was pounced on for refusing to eat Non-Halaal food.

The disappointed family decided to leave US for the same reason and is about to return back to Pakistan after staying for eight long years in the US.

The first-grader was born in Florida and he wanted to become President of the United States but the xenophobic slurs at him dismayed the whole family.

Zeeshan’s other two sons, aged 8 and 14, had also been called “terrorists” and were bullied.

Zeeshan maintained the family might move back to the US  where his employer is based provided Donald Trump is not elected next month, as he thinks his losing the election could calm down the burgeoning Islamophobia in the country.

He has won several awards in the United States for his research and contributions to the field of computer sciences as an entrepreneur.He received the Best IT Innovation Award in 2012, the Teradata IT Excellence Award in Research and Development in 2013, and the World Startup Cup in 2014.

He also remained winner at the TiE StartUp Cup Pakistan for his outstanding project on terrorism forecasting.
