ISLAMABAD: Following the allegations of involvement in subversive activities, five diplomats at Indian High Commission, who were declared persona non grata will leave Pakistan today (Thursday).
Sources privy to the developments said the three Indian diplomats will head to India through Wagah Border while two will return their home country via Dubai.
Balbir Singh (posted as first secretary, press and culture) and Jayabalan Senthil (assistant, personnel welfare office) are present at Islamabad airport to take flight EK-615 for Dubai, sources said.
Amerdeep Singh Bhatti (Attache Visa), Rajesh Kumar Agnihotri (Commercial Counsellor RAW’s station chief) and Dharmendra Sodhi are expected to leave via Wagah Border.
Last week, the Foreign Office confirmed eight staffers of Indian High Commission in Islamabad as operatives of Indian intelligence agencies and said the same were found involved in coordinating terrorist activities.
The activities of these operatives of RAW and IB include espionage, subversion and supporting of terrorist activities in Balochistan and Sindh especially Karachi, the Foreign Office spokesman said at a media briefing here.
Three of the alleged undercover agents have already left Pakistan on Tuesday.
The latest spat started after Indian police last week detained a staff member of Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi for questioning over espionage charges. Mahmood Akhtar, who was working as a visa officer at the Pakistani High Commission, was later expelled from India.
In an apparent tit for tat move, Pakistan confirmed that eight officials posted in India’s High Commission in Islamabad were agents of India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
They all have now been sent back to India.
