Goodbye Obama Donald Trump sworn in as 45th US president

WASHINGTON –  Donald John Trump has been sworn in as the 45th president of the United States for the next four years in a prestigious ceremony.

The swearing in ceremony was organized on the National Mall in the center of the nation’s capital where as many as 800,000 people were expected to witness the historic transition as Democrat’s Obama leaves completing his eight years term.

Chief Justice of US, Justice John Roberts administered the presidential oath to Trump. Vice president Mike Pence also took oath of his office.

Earlier, Donald Trump along with his wife Melania arrived at the White House where he was received by outgoing Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Republican nominee Trump won the US presidential election held on November 8, 2016, beating his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Real estate mogul Trump in a stunning show of victory received 304 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 227. Seven “faithless” electors voted for other candidates, costing Trump two votes and Clinton four.

The oath is part of a ceremony marking the peaceful transition of power on the steps in front of the US Capitol. The ceremony is then followed by a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and later celebrated through a series of inaugural balls.

President Obama and the first lady have left in a motorcade to the US Capitol for the official ceremony, where they were joined by members of Congress, politicians as well as supporters.

Meanwhile, the outgoing president Obama in a series of tweets thanked his nation and reaffirmed his consistent support for betterment of US as a citizen.
