PESHAWAR – Pakistan on Monday moved heavy artillery towards the Pak-Afghan border in bid to foil the trespassing of terrorist and miscreants that pose a threat to the country.
According to multiple media reports, the security near the Pak-Afghan border was beefed up in the wake of terror attacks with heavy artillery being deployed at pivotal positions.
The move comes as Pakistan explores option to thwart movement of subversive elements from Afghanistan. Pakistan has already sealed Pak-Afghan border at Torkham following the deadly attack on shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar that left over 80 people dead.
Meanwhile, talking to a local television, defence analysts Brig. (retd) Ghazanfar Ali Khan expressed that it was a good step by Pakistan Army that would help stop entry of terrorist from Afghanistan.
He maintained that due to the extended length of Pak-Afghan border, it was difficult to provide security.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan witnessed a spike in terror attacks in the country in the past week and tension between the two neighbours simmered as Afghanistan-based Jamaaat-ul-Ahrar claimed responsibility for the attack in Lahore that killed 15 people.
