ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan on Wednesday expressed that Indian cricket board, BCCI, did not contact PCB for a bilateral series.
Khan while reacting to reports of Indian media regarding BCCI’s letter to government for permission of a bilateral series with Pakistan said that BCCI was probably afraid of the International Cricket Board (ICC) and therefore wanted to play the series now.
‘I got to know about this development through Indian media,’ Khan said.
‘Last year the ICC had deducted points of Indian women cricket team for not playing series against Pakistan’ added the PCB chairman.
Earlier, it was reported that BCCI has formally written a letter to government in a bid to seek permission for a bilateral series between Pakistan and India slated to be played in Dubai.
Pakistan and India have not faced each other as part of bilateral series since 2012, Pakistan was set to host India in 2014 but due to protests by zealot groups in India, the tour could not be finalized.
Afterwards, In 2016, President of the Board of Control for Cricket Shashank Manohar wanted to host Pakistan for a short series in 2016 but the plan could not be materialized owing to fraught relations between the two countries.
