Court moved against gay couples nikah in Burewala

BUREWALA – An application has been filed in a local court seeking registration of case against solemnization of same-sex marriage couple nikah in Punjab’s tehsil Burewala.

Tariq Mehmood, the petitioner, who took the stance that Dr Muhammad Din got married with Zulfiqar Ali who is his ‘male bride’ on May 10, 2013, which is against the Quran and Sunnah.

The applicant while making Tehsil Municipal Officer respondent said nikah registrar had registered this nikah in union council office. Solemnization nikah of a male with another male and then gets registration is against Islam and its teachings.

Four years have been passed, however, nikah has not been even revoked. I reported the matter to police station concerned but no action was taken on this grave issue, Tariq mentioned in his application.

The petitioner requested to the court to pass order for registration of case against all those found involved in this matter and revoking of illegal marriage certificate.

The court, after hearing the arguments, summoned Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for next hearing for reply.
