LONDON – Rescheduling his plan to return to Pakistan twice, deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will now reach Islamabad after a two-day long stopover in Saudi Arabia.
The change in plan surfaced on Sunday days after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a high level meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed bilateral relations.
Earlier, the former premier was set to reach Pakistan on October 24 (Tuesday); however, he has reached Jeddah today (Monday) reportedly to meet her mother, who had left for the Kingdom on October 4.
According to local media, Sharif will perform Umrah along with his mother and then head to Pakistan to face the trial in the accountability court.
However, there are no reports that he will met any Saudi official during his visit.
The former prime minister has skipped three hearings of the accountability court as he had to leave for London to visit his ailing wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. It is expected that he would attend the hearing on October 26.
Indictment
During the previous week, the accountability court had indicted the former prime minister in three references, regarding Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship and Avenfiled apartments, filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the light of July 20 Panamagate verdict.
