LAHORE – Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif expressed his dismay and agony over the current status of rape-murder case of eight-year-old Zainab, who’s killers are still on the run.
Presiding over a meeting of provincial cabinet’s Committee on Law and Order, the chief executive said that he was under stress due to the case and only wanted the arrest of the suspect.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz briefed the participants on the brutal rape and murder and efforts of law enforcers to nab the suspect.
Addressing the participants, the chief minister said that facts should be put forth after the arrest of the suspect so that the victim’s family could get justice.
“The killer should not escape justice and get exemplary punishment,” asserted the younger Sharif.
Shehbaz further said that all requirements of justice would be fulfilled pertaining to the death of two persons in the firing incidents during violent protests that ensued in the city.
The chief minister directed the police chief to visit Kasur on daily basis to review progress on both cases.
He also allowed the IGP to use helicopter of the chief minister for the said purpose.
