KARACHI – Family of a teenager who was shot dead by personnel of Anti-Car Lifting Cell of the Sindh Police in wee hours of Sunday have demanded of a suo moto notice by Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The police had earlier maintained that the boy, identified as 19-year-old Intezar Ahmed, was killed in firing by unidentified assailants on motorcycles. However, later it was disclosed that the law enforcement authorities opened fire at Ahmed’s car after he failed to stop his vehicle in Defence Housing Authority’s Khayaban-e-Ittehad area.
At a press conference on Sunday noon, the victim family appealed to CJP Saqib Nisar and Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa to intervene and take action against police, who they allege framed the murder as accident.

Earlier in the day, DIG Crime Investigation Agency Saqib Ismail confirmed the shootout and the boy’s death. He said the deceased’s father can register a case against the police officials.
Following the incident, a case was registered at the Darakshan Police Station against unidentified persons. Six members of the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) in Karachi were taken into custody for allegedly shooting and killing the young man.
Ishtiaq Ahmed, the victim’s father, was accompanied by his sister and lawyer Muhammad Asif Khudai at a press conference in Karachi, where they demanded justice for Intezar.
They informed the media that Intezar, who had been studying in Malaysia, returned to Karachi in November. He had no political ties, the family and their counsel told the media. They added that he had visited his friends prior to the accident.
Police said that 15 bullet cases of 9mm were recovered from the crime scene, adding that a girl was also with the deceased, who fled after the incident.
However, the family’s counsel dismissed media reports that a female had been in the car with Intezar. “To our knowledge, there was no girl with him, and no such woman or girl has contacted us.”
Ishtiaq and Khudai denied that alcohol, government license plates and political parties’ flags had been recovered from the victim’s car.
