Two suicide bombers killed in Bajur Agency as major terror bid foiled

RAWALPINDI – As the operation Raddul Fasaad is in full swing, the Pakistan Army on Monday killed two suicide bombers after they entered Bajur Agency from Afghanistan, reported Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to military’s media wing, the bombers, belong to Tehrik-i-Taliban, were killed during an intelligence-based operation, saving Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas from the major terrorist action.

The terrorists were intercepted near Ghatki Kaga, Mena, Bajaur Agency, and were killed when they tried to flee, the ISPR added.

A suicide jacket, anti-tank mines, magnetic mines, prepared remote-controlled IEDs, remote-controlled receivers, detonators, and communication equipment bearing Afghan mobile company signatures were recovered from the suicide bombers, the army said further.

In Feb 2017, Pakistan Army launched ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’ across the country to root out terrorism without any discrimination.

“The operation aims at indiscriminately eliminating residual or latent threat of terrorism, consolidating gains of operations made thus far and further ensuring the security of Pakistan’s borders,” the ISPR statement added.

The countrywide military operation – ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’, or ‘Elimination of evils’ – has been launched days after a series of deadly militant attacks killed more than 115 people across Pakistan in just over a week, including civilians, policemen and soldiers.
